f7p conversion mk2 ph2 clio break the mold?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hi i am thinking about doing this conversion f7p 1.8 16v to my mk2 ph2 clio 1.2 16v.
i will be geting full clio 16v donor car for this i was just wanting to no if parts will be interchangeable.
do the 1.8 16v engine fit on to the 1.2 16v box so i dont have to worry about drive shafts or starter motors?
reason im doing this these cars are ultra cheap and would be a uneke conversion aiming for a magazine feature with this one
16valver clios weight 1000kg and gets 7.7 to 60 and my clio weights 945kg so would be hopeing for simler
and if i wanted to do a 1*2 conversion i would buy a 172 but im wanting to be uneke
any help and support will be mutch aprechated and i will do a full project log on here once and donor car
jamie
I personally don't see any point in using the 1.8. I know you said you want to be different, but what's the point in settling for second best. The 1.2 gear box won't last very long with the extra power and torque the 1.8 will be kicking out either.
You really are best going for a 1*2 conversion. And just in case it flashes through your mind, the 2.0T from the RS Megane does not fit in the Clio engine bay
EDIT: 1uck..., I was under the impression that the 2.0 from the mk1 meggy was only 140 brake? Can't see how that would be a better swap myself. I still maintain that the best swap would be the 2.0 from the RS Clio. There might even be a 197 engine knocking about?
