South African Liquid

What causes raindrops to glow when they come in contact with wet sand?

When I was in my tweens my family and I had emigrated to the UAE. On a vacation to Oman (I think it was near Muskat, we went camping on the beach. Now I had no idea a desert country could be so WET, because every time we went it would rain buckets.

But on one drizzly night we were having a barbeque with some other South African campers, and I went for a stroll alone because the others were too busy to come with. As I walked along the beach and the raindrops got larger but fewer, I looked at my feet where the seawater washed over the sand. And where the raindrops fell, it GLOWED. I mean like, blue and green like liquid out of a glowstick, until the drops drained away. What could have caused this? 'Cos it's gnawing at my brain still, and I can't find anything on Google.
This happened after dark, about 9:00, so the could not have been any trick of the sun involved.

basically, sand is made from stones when the tide comes in , rocks & stones on the shore are crushed by the tide, these stones are made of different colours of glass and as they are crushed they will get smaller and smaller through time and you will have sand, when raindrops hit the sand you will get a glow from the crushed up pieces of glass xx
