Our Diet Pill
Diet pills for teenagers?
I am 13, 5"3 and I weigh 140. I already know what the majority of you will say, that I am not fat or that I am am too young. But, I have stretch marks on the sides of my stomach. STRETCH MARKS. I have tried and tried to go on a diet, it was hard but after 2 months, I lost 1 pound. I ate as healthy as possible and rarely ate junk food. I went in early at least twice a week to our fitness room at school. 1 POUND. Please, if you know about any safe pill for a person my age to be taking, let me know.
Actually Manny, 140 is on the high side for 5'3" and your age. It's good that you want to manage your weight before it gets out of hand. The tricky part is that you are at an age when your body's developing and [A] needs the proper nutrition for bone, muscle, brain cell development [B] may be going through hormonal bursts that may level out.
Have your parents set up a doctor's appointment for you. Get a physical and discuss weight loss/management options that are right for your age, health status and current level of physical activity.
Pills can be very very dangerous and cause heart attacks that lead to death in a fair number of cases. So don't just self prescribe.
You may be eating the wrong kinds of foods, too large portion sizes (should be no bigger than the size of your fist) at any one meal, and for your age you should be working out at least 5 days a week at a moderate pace (combo of strength - which builds muscle that burns fat & cardio). But, again, you need to build up properly and do exercises using the proper form or you could hurt yourself. So, ask the doctor for suggestions about an exercise program too. If you need a support system from the eating right side of things and your doctor thinks it's right for you, check out Weight Watchers (they have you eat normal foods - not purchase expensive pkgd food).
Good luck in achieving your weight/health goals! It's not easy, but it's something you have to stick with for life - you don't lose weight once or exercise for a month, then that's it. I know from experience!
