How can I feel better when trying a new diet?
I am trying to work out and lose some weight over 4 weeks. I have been to a nutritionist several times and I know how to plan meals. The problem is that when I cut back my calories, then I feel so weak and I can't get through my daily routine without making a mess of the whole day. I have to take medicine because I am high-diabeties risk, but my doctor knows that I try to watch my weight and she hasn't told me I can't diet. Anybody else have this problem?
I'm hypoglycemic, so I can run into the same problem. I found the best way to handle it is to cut back the calories at meal times even more so that there's room for snacks throughout the day. Even if it's just 100 calories of a lasting energy source (like nuts), it helps keep me going. I typically have a small breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and medium sized snack in the evening (about 200-250 calories, although the rest of my snacks are typically 75-125 calories)
Be wary of foods that are high on the glycemic index (bananas, sugars, white starches like potatoes, rice, pasta), and try to start your day with a source of protein. Cutting back on caffeine is supposed to help too, but I'll be damned if anyone's taking my morning coffee from me.
