My 15 month old is still not walking. How can I get him to walk?
My son scoots but never crawled. After increasing his tummy time at 13 months he sprung forward quickly pulling up more and cruising the couch etc. He walks well holding on but will not walk alone and seems to still have trouble balancing. He says 4 to 5 words sparatically but nothing consistantly. He still babbles a lot in baby talk. How can I encourage talking as well?
Chill out and just enjoy the early years. My little boy didn't crawl/bum shuffle/crawl and everybody was pressuring me about it. There was nothing wrong with him other than being a boy (more lazy than girls) and an only child (hence no survival instinct since everything he needed, he had). At 18 months, out of the blue, he got up and walked 10 steps across the room. Caught up, and indeed overtook, his friends very quickly and now has excellent balance skills.
Was the same with talking. As long as you are talking to him and encouraging him, don't worry. By encourage, I mean talk to him in simple terms and also do lots of singing. Give him lots of attention when you speak to him i.e eye contact, facial expression etc. At my little one's 2yr check I was struggling to think of 20 words that he could say. He's now just turned 3 and his nursery have reported that he has an exceptionally wide vocab for his age and can string together long sentences.
As long as your health visitor says there are no problems then I really would try to relax a bit and ignore the "My son did this at X age" brigade!
