Hoodia Mixed

How does Hoodia interact with prescription drugs?

I am taking Lisinopril for Blood Pressure, and Flexeril for a lower lumbar injury. Because of a much lower activity level, I have gained a few pounds, and I have chosen the much talked about "Hoodia" and a healthy diet plan, to lose those added pounds. I have also asked my pharmacist of any risks. She told me that she has not heard of any adverse effects of Hoodia mixed with any prescription drug.Just to be on the safe side, I would like to know more about it.Can anyone give me a more difinitive answer?

Hello,

Hoodia ...

First there have been clinical trials on Hoodia held in the UK. People held in a 'closed unit' (where all they could do is watch TV, read and eat) lost the equivalent of 1000 calories a day.

Regarding interactions ...

There have been no interactions reported with Hoodia. As long as you get a pure Hoodia powder supplement, with no other added active ingredients you should be fine.

Remember though, as a matter of course, herbal product manufacturers add terms such as "not to be taken by nursing mothers, pregnant women, and those with high blood pressure". This is a standard in the industry.

If your Pharmacist has advised that no issues should arise you should be okay.

The ultimate test, with any other product you would chose to take though, is to try it and see. Start with the minimum recommended dosage and monitor yourself.

Trust this helps,
