Highest Potency
Any risks of taking high potency vitamins?
Currently taking a high potency multi vit and min tablet and omega 3,6 & 9 1000mg tablet daily but I know there are different schools of thought on taking higher dosed tablets.
What are peoples educated views or experiences from taking these longer term? I know on the packet tub it says long term use of B12 can cause numbness in hands but haven't been taking them long enough to experience this and why would this do this anyway?
I don't want people saying eat a balanced diet and you won't need to take vits blah blah however just want comments on the above please!
B12 (cobalamin) needs B6 (pyridoxine), calcium and vitamin D to be effectively assimilated ......... the B complex of vitamins work best synergistically (as a group) ..... to isolate one of them will throw out the balance of all the others in the group ......... hence the numbness and tingling and prickling sensations ........ which are symptoms of B6 (pyridoxine) deficiency ...... as are excessive sweating, excessive urination, dry mouth so bad that no amount of water can resolve your thirst, nausea and vomiting, leg cramps, night muscle spasms.
my view is that if you are going to supplement with a B vitamin then you should supplement with a complex that contains all the B's ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid, choline, biotin, inositol etc... and also that you should ensure you get one that is easy for your body to assimilate ....... cheap junk style vitamins are useless as your body can't digest them ...... bed pan bullets ......... a supplement that is easy for your body to assimilate will start to dissolve in a glass of white vinegar within 3 -4 minutes and have completely dissolved within the half hour ........ if not it belongs in the trash can ... no point spending your hard earned cash on supplements that your body can't digest.
do the vinegar and water test with the supplements you are taking and decide if you are wasting your money or not.
eat a wide range of brightly colored vegies and leafy and green vegies daily, eat wholegrains and cereals like brown rice or quinoa (pronounced keen ~ wah) to fuel your brain and energy levels and keep you regular, eat some lean meats and fishes and also eat low sugar fruits like pears, cantalope, strawberries, watermelon.
vitamins and minerals and nutrients in as close to their natural form .. from food ........ fresh from God's table ....... will always be the best way to nourish and feed your body effectively........ it's also an awful lot cheaper to go for the real source of the food ........ given of course that you don't have intolerances or food sensitivities.
peace baby
