whats the necessary steps I have to take to become a mental health support worker?
please advise, I would like to work in such profession! serious answers please. Is a certificate in mental health any good for a start.
Hi Akeelah
The City & Guilds Certificate in Mental Health is a good qualification, but you can only study for it if you are working in mental health already. I know because I tried to find somewhere running the course before I got my current job. It isn't possible.
Don't let that put you off though, there are other things you can be doing that will help you into your chosen career.

the information is easy to read and understand and it takes you through a whole range of jobs in this field.
A good way to gain valuable experience would be to find yourself some voluntary work, this will allow you to see if this is the kind of work you would be comfortable doing and can be used as evidence when you are submitting your CV to prospective employers.
