How long should I leave fresh plaster before sealing and painting it?
Quite a few varied answers.
If you go to college, City & Guilds will teach you to water down emulsion with 10% water and apply. This is called a mist coat.
As time goes buy, you will develop your own idea. I use two coats of Leyland Super Leytex with no mist coat.
On skimmed plasterboard, when it has turned light pink. On site, I've seen emulsion forced on next day.
On traditional plaster, a lot longer because the undercoat plaster (hardwall or browning) was about 11mm thick which takes a lot longer to dry out. I was told not to wallpaper such walls for 6 months.
So, your call depending on experience etc.. People will give you their opinion on what they do and what they've got away with.
