Is p21 and inhibitor of G1CDK, can it act to blcok the cell cycle @ G1/S?
I know that p53 can block the cell cycle at G1/S checkpoint, and I know that p53 is a transcriptional activator for p21 however does this mean that p21 blocks the cell cycle at the aforementioned checkpoint or does p53 do it via p21? AHHH!!!
p53 blocks the cell cycle because it activates p21 that goes and inhibits the checkpoint. In short: If p53 and p21 are on, the cycle stops; if they are off, the cell cycle continues.
