Malawi Cichlid Diet?
Hello all, here is my scenario...
I have a 60 gl tank with 10 juvenile malawi cichlids. I understand that they are mainly hebivores, but is a diet of just spirulina sufficient enough. And a second part to that question, they don't seem very intersted to come to the surface to feed so i have been feeding them sinking pellets (HBH SUPER SOFT with SPIRULINA and Nutrafin Spirulina Algae Tablets) with a once a week treat of zucchini. I'm also finding it difficult to determine whether or not i am over feeding them because they don't seem to eat it in a 1 to 2 min time span due to the fact it's not a flake food that i can watch them eat at the surface. I basically split a tablet in half and drop them on each side of the tank and at their second meal, i feed them the HBH at a rate of one pellet per fish. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
malawis like all sorts of food i feed three times a day.In the morning i feed spirulina algae flake.Late afternoon i feed either pellets or another flake food this feeding i change daily as the like a balaned mixed diet and at night i feed either prawns or squid rings these i buy from local food store from freezer and thaw out before feeding.Also feed garden worms,(washed first) flys ect.If they are not eating very well DONT feed for 24hrs let them get hungry then try the prawns this should stimulate them into eating.
